Try it Tuesday: Distress Spritz

Looking for an easy way to add sparkle, depth, and layered color to your cardmaking and mixed media projects? This week’s Try It Tuesday technique is all about Distress Spritz — one of our favorite ways to create beautiful shimmer effects with very little effort!
Distress Spritz adds a fine mist of sparkle and color that works beautifully over Distress Ink, Distress Oxide, stencils, textured backgrounds, die cuts, and more. Whether you want a soft pearlescent glow or bold splattered shimmer, these sprays instantly bring projects to life.
Why We Love Distress Spritz
✨ Adds shimmer without heavy glitter
✨ Works beautifully with Distress products
✨ Creates layered mixed media effects
✨ Easy for beginners and advanced crafters alike
✨ Gorgeous on backgrounds, florals, die cuts, and journals
One of the best things about Distress Spritz is how versatile it is. You can lightly mist for a soft glow or layer multiple colors for dramatic texture and movement.
Easy Ways to Use Distress Spritz
1. Spray Over Inked Backgrounds
Blend Distress Ink or Distress Oxide onto cardstock, then lightly mist Distress Spritz over the top for instant sparkle and texture.
2. Layer Through Stencils
Apply your favorite stencil design first, then add shimmer sprays for extra depth and dimension.
3. Build Mixed Media Layers
Spritz works beautifully alongside texture paste, stamps, splatter techniques, and layered die cuts.
4. Highlight Embellishments
Add shimmer to florals, sentiments, ephemera, and focal images to create eye-catching details.
5. Experiment with Color Combos
Try combining purples, pinks, teals, and soft neutrals for gorgeous blended backgrounds full of movement and shine.
